Using rdev

Projects and sites

Every project on your server becomes a site with its own address and trusted HTTPS.

Site addresses

Each project gets https://<name>.dev.test. The certificate is trusted by your laptop, so the browser shows no warnings, and the address works anywhere your laptop is connected to your tailnet.

PHP

  • Every PHP version from 7.4 to 8.5, chosen per site.
  • Laravel and WordPress are first-class.
  • Other PHP frameworks and plain PHP projects are supported too.

Other languages

Python, Ruby, Node.js and Go projects are supported from launch. No language runtime is installed by default: when you add a project in one of these languages, rdev installs the runtime it needs at that moment, and reuses it for later projects.

This keeps the environment small, and runtimes you never use do not need updates.

Adding a project

You can add a project in four ways:

  • from the web panel;
  • from the laptop app;
  • with the rdev command line tool on the server;
  • by asking your AI agent, which can create sites through its MCP access.
