rdev tells you when your AI agent needs you. Leave an agent working on your server, close your laptop, and get a notification on your phone when the agent finishes, waits for your approval or runs into an error.
How it works
The notification is sent straight from your server to a channel you own. It never passes through rdev's servers, so the text your agent writes stays between your server and you.
Every plan includes notifications:
| Plan | Channels |
|---|---|
| Single | One personal channel |
| Pro | Several channels |
| Team | A channel per user, plus a shared team channel |
Events
You choose which events you want to hear about:
- Finished: the agent completed its task.
- Waiting for approval: the agent wants to run a command that needs your permission.
- Error: something went wrong and the agent stopped.
Supported channels
- ntfy: our default suggestion. It is free, needs no account, has phone apps and can also run on your own server.
- Gotify: a self-hosted notification server.
- Telegram: messages from your own bot.
- Slack and Discord: a message in a channel, through an incoming webhook.
- Pushover: push notifications to your devices.
- Webhook: a JSON event sent to any URL, for your own integrations.
What the message contains
By default a notification is a short summary, such as "rdev · myapp · finished", without the agent's text. If you prefer, you can switch to the full message: the agent's last reply is included, with anything that looks like a secret (API keys, tokens, passwords, private keys) masked and the text shortened to a safe length.
Supported agents
Claude Code and Codex send notifications out of the box: rdev connects them for you through their managed settings, so the setup stays in place. Other agents can send notifications if they support hooks or can run a command when they finish.
Setting it up
You pick a channel and the events in your web panel, or on your server with the rdev command line, and send a test notification to check it arrives. Step-by-step instructions are coming soon.
If a channel is unreachable, the other channels still receive the notification, and your agent keeps working: a notification problem never stops a task.
